ok, so all of a sudden my gorgeous tree coral is closed up and unhappy. i took a closer look, and saw all these red guys on its base. I have not seen them before, and it's like they appeared overnight. Poking around the web, they appear to be vermetid snails. I hear they can reproduce quickly and also that their mucous net can irritate corals. Might this be what is happening? All my other corals (including a tree coral on the other side that was split from this guy months ago) are fine.

So....should i try and knock these guys off? i worry if my coral stays unhappy it won't bounce back...or might it be something other than these red guys?
