Don't have a nano anymore but I still wanted to post pics...

You know I haven't noticed any but as I take more and more macros of my acros.... (hehe), I have noticed these on a few colonies. I guess I need to figure out how to get rid of them. I can't see them with the naked eye but on a few pics I have noticed a couple.

    "T5 Lighting" Vs "The Rest"

T5 is far from betamax. It is the 'max' as far as lighting is concerned. I went from 250w HQI pendant MH over my 18G (that is right! a 10k DE MH 250W over an 18G!), yet with my new setup (all t5), there was severe (and I mean severe, I almost lost several corals) bleaching. My SPS dominated...

Don't have a nano anymore but I still wanted to post pics...

Well I just moved all my inhabitants from my 18g to a 120g. So it is obviously not a nano anymore but here are some pics anyways. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

    Tank Size?

I found my 18H at the local petsmart. As for lighting go w/ 250W MH pendant. I wish I would have done this from the start. The depth on this tank almost makes MH a must.

My 18G with new lighting (pic intense)

Yeah its a monster. It ate a fullgrown foxface during the move. But now it has a clarkii hosting it so hopefully the foxface will be the last of its victims.

My 18G with new lighting (pic intense)

Extreme before and after Well I was digging around in my computer today and found this shot. Haven't seen it for over a year and was amazed at my tanks very humble beginnings. Here is the FIRST shot I ever took of my tank. And here is a pic from this morning. Small difference...

My 18G with new lighting (pic intense)

I've tried messing with the camera settings but I have a dinky little point and shoot camera that really doesn't take any better shots than this. I want the new D80 but will have to wait and save up some cash. I have a 10K AB bulb right now.

what kinda chemical media do you use?

I only use carbon. My theory is to keep it as simple as possible so I have less chances to screw things up.

September Contest - enter your favorite shot

I plan on having a little photo session with my tank tomorrow. Hopefully I can come up with a nice shot. These competitions always produce such nice pictures... they are fun and competitive. And who couldn't use either of these prizes?

    PC, T5, or VHO

Temp swings are horrible. How hot are we talking? Many times a simple fan will easily cool a tank as long as your area is not too humid and the ambient temp of the room is not higher than the temp you are keeping the tank. But the fan will cause excessive evaporation.

    aiptasia???

Definitely get a pep. I have found that you need to starve your pep to get them to eat the aptasia. If you keep your pep well fed he will never have the need to eat aptasia. Also I have never had success with syringes (maybe I'm not coordinated enough), and if you have some larger aptasia the...

    HH Nudibranch

Fun is definitely the word.... One tip that I found highly effective was to syphon the zoas during each water change. Since you are syphoning water out anyways just run the syphon over as many zoas as possible. You will notice a lot of nudis in your waste water. I also used a turkey...

    HH Nudibranch

Do you have zoas? If so be prepared for a wild ride of constant monitoring/syphoning/squishing to get rid of these guys. IMO these zoa eating nudis are the biggest pains you can possibly encounter. They reproduce at a ridiculous rate and are well camoflauged. PITA

    PC, T5, or VHO

I'd say go MH especially with the deeper tank. If you want to keep good looking zoas MH is almost a must. PC is definitely a more affordable option and should still work fairly well for what you want to keep. T5s are a little more expensive but definitely better than PC. When you say they...
